Nantucket Guide
I have been going to Nantucket (ACK) for the past few years as a girls trip with my friend, Nancy! We had to skip last year (thanks, Covid), but we got to take our annual trip this year and our friend, Allie, joined along. It was her first time in ACK, so it was fun to show her around and explore some new haunts with her! This guide is going to showcase what we did on the trip, but also highlight my favorite things to do and where I love to eat on the island!
Before I dive in, I highly recommend visiting ACK in July. In my experience, the weather is best during this month and will give you the opportunity to hit the beach, ride bikes, walk or run the island, and visit the local brewery. In July, you can expect the weather to be in the 70s during the day and 60s at night….ahhhh perfection! The flip side to the best weather is that peak season will cost you more in hotel fees, flights, and make reservations harder to get. I personally think it is worth it so you can see ACK at its best!
Where to Eat:
Proprietors: Upscale tapas on a cute cobblestone street.
Cru: Chic decor, water views, and upscale dining. This is a must.
Galley Beach: Dinner on a beach while watching a beautiful sunset. Galley Beach provides beach entertainment while eating a fantastic meal.
Provisions: A casual sandwich and salad takeaway spot right in the center of town!
Fresh: Another great sandwich and smoothie joint for lunch.
Ciscos: Ok, this is not a traditional eatery, but it does have food trucks while you choose between beer, wine, and liquor to drink! This outdoor brewery is a blast and has live music playing all day.
Handlebar: This is my favorite coffee shop for locals!
Where to Stay:
White Elephant: This hotel is the most well known on the island! It is near the center of town, located right beside Brant Point (a small beach with a lighthouse), has pool and tennis court amenities, and the rooms are luxurious.
Airbnb: We chose do rent a small airbnb in town and it was an amazing decision. We had a central location to walk to shops/restaurants, use of a kitchen and living room, and lots of space to spread out.
Bed and Breakfasts: There are plenty of bed and breakfast/inn options available. I personally am not a fan of bed and breakfast set ups, but they are usually cheap and comfortable. *All I keep thinking about it is the episode of Gilmore Girls where Lorelei stays in a BnB and it’s hysterical!
What to Do:
Bike Ride: There are plenty of places in town to rent beach cruisers and ride the island!
Beach: There so many great beaches, but Steps Beach (pictured above) is hands down my favorite!
Sail: ACK is an island, so might as well spend the day on a boat!
Anything Sporty: Walk, run, or play tennis? This is a great location for so many outdoor sports.
Shop: ACK has great shopping. I love The Skinny Dip and Veronica Beard!
This is by no means a comprehensive list, but it is a great jumping stone to planning a great visit to ACK!
