Everything I Read in November & December
My book posts have been some of my favorite ways to connect on Closet Hook in 2021! I have to be honest though. I started November in a reading rut. I wanted to challenge myself to read books this year that stretched my thinking and from various genres and perspectives. Sometimes it is hard for me to stray from suspense/psychological thrillers and historical fiction, because I know I will love and devour those pieces. In November, I got out of my reading rut through some fantastic memoirs. They are all VERY different people, but their stories shed perspective, wisdom, and humor which I appreciated. These memoirs were by Matthew McConaughey, Randy Pausch, and Collin Jost and they all reignited my joy of reading this winter. Here is a look at all the books I devoured as 2021 came to a close!
Green Lights- Matthew McConaughey
Say what you want about Matthew McConaughey, but he is one great storyteller. If you get the audible book, you get to listen to him read the story, which makes it so much more fun!
A Very Punchable Face- Colin Jost
Colin is smart, funny, and honest. This was such a fun read, which had me laughing out loud as I listened on road trips! Highly recommend!
The Last Lecture- Randy Pausch
Wow- talk about inspirational! Randy Pausch, a former UVA professor, delivers his last lecture and life advice before he died from pancreatic cancer. This is a must read!
Heart Bones- Colleen Hoover
I fall into the “will read anything by Colleen Hoover” category! She is just a great author, showcasing well developed female characters and perspective.
The Midnight Library- Matt Haig
This book came to me at the right time! It explored themes from leaving regrets behind, we all have infinite potential in life, and we matter more to others than we think. This book is thought provoking!
Rock Paper Scissors- Alice Feeney
Ok, so I usually love books in the psychological/suspense genre, but this one was just ok for me! Others loved it, but this one failed to hook me from the start. I do think my so-so opinion is in the minority though, because it got rave reviews on IG!
I can’t wait to read even more books in 2022, and share all my book recommendations with you here! Be on the lookout next week. I will be doing a post to share my top 5 books that I read in 2021!
Thanks for reading!
