My Top Motivation Tips for Fitness

I am by no means the best athlete, but I am consistent and have a dedicated workout ethic! I am trying to be more transparent on my blog that working out is not a means to weigh a certain number on the scale or to achieve an unrealistic body image. Sure…I do want my pants to fit. However, working out is always my best way to feel good both mentally and physically. As someone who has a somewhat stressful job and where I look after the needs of so many people, working out helps me to look after myself first and foremost. I learned in graduate work…if I don’t take care of me, I cannot effectively care for others!

So here I am at 36- disciplined and routine oriented…consistently working out 6 days a week. Here are some tips and tricks that allow me to make sure my workouts happen each day!

Tips

  1. Variety: I book classes on the weekend (hello MVMNT Society, Barrys, Soul Cycle), and run and/or use my peloton during the week. The variety keeps me interested and excited each day! (*my favorite peloton instructors right now are Ben Alldis and Cody Rigsby)

  2. Schedule and Plan: I love making a schedule for the coming week and planning out my appointments, social events, and workouts. This way, I always know what is happening each week and I have dedicated the time to get my workouts in. No excuses! Plus, is it just me, but does anyone else love crossing off something on their to-do list?

  3. Plans the Workouts that Excite You: This Summer, I was soaking up the sun and my favorite workout was a hike to and from Roosevelt Island (a DC treasure IMO)! It is a 7-8 mile loop. I had gorgeous scenery, and I got to listen to books or call friends when I was out. I craved this time and made working out something I loved!

  4. It is Better with Friends: I love booking a class with my girlfriends and grabbing coffee after! This way, working out is social and fun. Plus, it is built in accountability!

  5. Cute Workout Clothes: Maybe I’m weird, but cute, new workout clothes might be my top motivator to workout sometimes! Remember…this is mostly a fashion blog, so don’t judge me too hard! There are so many cute styles and options out there, and I am always a sucker for a cute sports bra (sue me)!

I hope you found a good tip or trick that will he helpful! If you have a different tip or trick, leave it in the comment section below.
